Biography
Kinan Sawar founded Sawar Lab in 2022 with a mission to mentor medical students at Wayne State University School of Medicine. This initiative has since expanded to include students from four medical schools, providing a broader platform for aspiring clinical researchers to collaborate and gain valuable experience.
The lab’s current focus is on the use of data science and emerging AI tools to solve high-impact problems in medicine. Recent projects include —

Evaluating prompt-engineering models to generate USMLE-style practice questions

Bibliometric studies that track research trends across various topics
He is dedicated to equipping future researchers with the skills needed to drive significant advancements in their respective fields, regardless of the field. His current research interests center on translational research regarding AI use in medicine, medical education research, and research ethics.
